EMERGENT-LLEIDA and Fundació SORIGUÉ are organizing the EMERGENT-FUNDACIÓ SORIGUÉ award/viewing for the purpose of sharing experiences, providing incentive for artistic creation, and promoting and publicizing the works of promising creators and artists who work with photography as a primary means of expression.

Who can participate?
Anyone enrolled in a school or university specialized in photography, fine arts, audiovisuals or similar, or any emerging artist up to 28 years old, of any European nationality, regardless of whether he or she is enrolled in a school or not.

Type of projects
Original photographic projects, which are conceived to comprise an exhibition of contemporary art, may be submitted. Each project will consist of between 12 and 20 photographs.

The finalists
Of all the projects submitted 16 will be selected as finalists, and they will be reproduced in the general catalogue of the festival.
At least 4 of the 16 finalist projects competing for the award will be reserved for an art student enrolled in a school or university.
Moreover, the authors of the 16 finalist projects must be in Lleida on October 21st and 22nd 2010 in order to defend their projects before an audience and the panel of judges. During the viewing the finalists must explain to the members of the jury the concept of their work and the personal and creative motive which led them to produce it, making sure that the exhibition may be as enriching as possible for those present.
The judges may publicly intervene, ask, suggest or state their opinions about the projects presented with a clear pedagogical and educational objective, and thus contribute to establishing criteria regarding artistic creation.

The award
From among the 16 finalists the jury will chose a single winner for whom a solo photography show will be held within the framework of EMERGENT 2011. Production costs will not exceed €2,500.
One of the pieces exhibited will become a part of the Fundació Sorigué holdings.

Reception of projects
Instructions and technical requirements for submitting projects can be found on the “premios” (awards) section of the festival website. The closing date for the submission of photographs is July 15th 2010.
